Austria, 01 July 2020 – 107 new infections in 24 hours.
The number of new infections with the coronavirus in Austria rose to over 100 on Wednesday. According to the Interior Ministry, the 107 cases (as of 9.30 a.m.) was accounted for by Upper Austria with 61.
The new infections are divided among the federal provinces of Austria as follows:
Burgenland: 1
Carinthia: 0
Lower Austria: 7
Upper Austria: 61
Salzburg: 2
Styria: 9
Tyrol: 3
Vorarlberg: 0
Vienna: 24
With 24 new infections, Vienna was in second place, followed by Styria with nine and Lower Austria with seven. Three cases were reported from Tyrol, two in Salzburg and one in Burgenland.
So far, Austria has had 17,873 positive test results. As of today, 705 people throughout Austria have died of the coronavirus and 16,497 have recovered. Currently 74 persons were undergoing hospital treatment due to the corona virus and nine of them were in intensive care units.
The focus of new corona diseases in Austria is currently in Upper Austria, said Health Minister Rudolf Anschober at a press conference on Wednesday. In Upper Austria, the number of cases increased by 2.48 percent within 24 hours.
In Austria as a whole, however, the number of actively ill persons had increased by only 0.6 percent, Anschober continued. For the first time in weeks, the number of new infections was in the triple digits again on Wednesday, at 107. Currently, 677 actively ill persons are registered.
Seven new coronavirus cases in Lower Austria
In Lower Austria the number of coronavirus cases on Wednesday rose by seven to 3,011. According to the medical staff, 96 patients were currently ill. A total of 2,811 people were considered to have recovered, two more than on Tuesday; 110,816 tests have been performed so far. In the state, 104 deaths were reported in connection with Covid-19.
18 infected persons in Tyrol
In Tyrol, two more corona infected persons were added from Tuesday evening to Wednesday morning. This means that a total of 18 people were still ill, 3,445 people were already considered to have recovered. In the hospitals, two more people infected with the virus were treated, and there were no more corona patients in the intensive care units.
The state capital Innsbruck had the most infected patients with nine. Three districts – Innsbruck-Land, Kitzbühel and Reutte – were free of corona. 108 people have died in Tyrol so far with or from Covid-19. No further deaths have been recorded for over a month. 85,674 tests have been carried out in Tyrol so far.
